Elena Chen is a London-based photographer and visual artist working between personal narrative and fashion-led image-making. Shaped by moving between Nanchang, Melbourne, and London, her practice uses photography as both an observational and constructed form, exploring relationships between memory, emotion, identity, and the body.

Working across staged photography, fashion imagery, and personal observation, Chen is drawn to moments in which the body appears quiet but not passive; composed, suspended, protected, or in the process of becoming. Her work often begins from personal experience, yet moves away from direct confession. Instead, she uses image-making to give form to subtle tensions, internal states, and ways of looking that are difficult to name.

Alongside collaborative and commissioned projects, Chen maintains an ongoing personal practice that functions as a space of observation, research, and visual inquiry. Across different contexts, she is drawn to images in which beauty, restraint, and unease coexist.
